Sign in with a one-time code, without a password
The sign-in screen has a new tab, “Sign in with a code”: enter your work email, receive a one-time code in WhatsApp or by email, and sign in without a password.
A password is not always remembered and not always at hand. The sign-in screen now has a tab called “Sign in with a code”: you enter your work email, receive a one-time code and sign in without a password.
The code arrives in WhatsApp, to the number held in your profile. If there is no number, or WhatsApp is unavailable at that moment, the same code is sent by email. The code is valid for ten minutes and works once.
- The profile now has a “Phone (WhatsApp)” field. Staff phone numbers can be filled in by the office owner on the “Staff” screen.
- If the account has sign-in confirmation switched on (two-factor protection), it stays where it was: the code replaces the password, not the second factor.
- The number of code requests is limited, and guessing codes is blocked. The security of signing in has not been loosened.
The password remains. Anyone who prefers to sign in the old way carries on the old way, and the same screen leads back to signing in with a password.
