Practice area is set automatically by lead source
An integration can pass an area code along with the lead — the area appears in the list right away, no manual input.
Until now almost every new lead arrived with no practice area, and staff assigned it by hand. Now the lead source — a campaign form, a landing page, an integration — can pass a topic_code field along with the lead: a short code or the exact name of an area from the directory, in any language.
The system recognises the value and assigns the area the moment the lead is received. A small note next to the area shows it was set automatically — and staff can always change it; a manual choice outranks the automation and is never overwritten.
The area directory (“Settings → Areas”) has a new optional “Integration code” field — optional, because the area name itself works too. An unrecognised value never blocks a lead — it is accepted as usual, marked with an unknown-code note so the directory can be completed.
